Prof. Weerakorn Ongsakul from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, visited YunTech in early September 2023 for future possible collaboration between the two institutions. Begun with the welcome by Prof. Wei-Hwa Pan, the Dean of International Affairs, the visit was hosted by Prof. Yaw-Juen Wang along with the department chair Prof. Wan-Tsun Tseng, calling at laboratories of Prof. Hsien-Huang Wu, Prof. Chih-Chiang Hua, Prof. Yie-Tone Chen, and Prof. Chun-Chi Lai. These on-site visits consisted of exchanges of insights into the fields of sustainable energy, artificial intelligence, and power systems that foster mutual understanding of respective strengths, so as to lay a foundation for multilateral interchange of research results between different labs of the two institutions.

Asian Institute of Technology, founded in 1959, is one of the most prestigious institutions in Thailand with student size less than 2,000. AIT ranked among the top 100-200 globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021, sharing the same band of reputation as National Taiwan University. Among others, AIT has been well known for multicultural internationalization, over 70% of whose students come from more than 40 countries. The faculty contributes to such an enriched multicultural campus environment as well. With background on interdisciplinary professional training, AIT graduates wield significant influence in various sectors of society around the world. Dr. Mao Chi-kuo, a former Minister of Transportation of Taiwan, is a notable alumnus of AIT. Prof. Weerakorn’s visit brought potential opportunities to deepen the relationship between us under the lab-to-lab exchange program by YunTech’s Office of International Affairs, which is of value to open new avenues for our students' future career development.
